A food delivery driver was caught on video spitting onto an order that he delivered.
The homeowner in Florida used the doorbell camera to capture the disgusting behavior at an apartment complex on Saturday afternoon local time.
According to the NY Post, the act could have been a response to a bad tip.
The footage showed that the driver, a DoorDash employee, placed the bagged food on the stoop of the apartment, took a picture for proof of delivery in the app, and then spat three times on the bag while murmuring something under his breath.
The mother and son who placed the order, both aged 13, said that they felt sick when they saw the video in real-time.
The teen Elias Crisanto told Local 10.
“It’s so disgusting. “I mean, who would do that?”
He and his mother paid about $30 (A$46.80). They also added a tip of $3 (A$4.68).
As punishment, they decided to spray the saliva of the driver on their order.
Elias told us he had sent DoorDash a recording of the recording and requested a refund. However, he was initially refused until he spoke to a customer service representative.
In an email sent to the teenager, the company informed him that the driver would no longer be able to deliver for DoorDash.
DoorDash stated that they “do not condone such actions and have taken the necessary steps to remove them from our platform.”
This Dasher is no longer able to fulfill future orders through DoorDash. The results of all internal investigations will remain confidential.
